CrawlerData vs SerpApi

The short version

How they differ

CrawlerData's packs cost $1.00 down to $0.30 per 1,000 requests and stay valid for 6 months, so you pay for what you use. SerpApi is a monthly subscription that starts at $25 for 1,000 searches and reaches about $1.96 per 1,000 on its largest listed plan.

For Google Shopping, our sellers endpoint returns every seller for a product in one request, with price, shipping and total price, sorted by total. SerpApi's Immersive Product engine returns 3 to 5 stores by default and up to 13 with more_stores, with more pages through next_page_token.

We run our own e-commerce price-monitoring product on the same crawler, so the API is used in production every day. Live, Fast and Regular queues all cost the same, where SerpApi's Ludicrous Speed and Ludicrous Speed Max cost 2× and 4× the base price.

Where CrawlerData fits best

Choose CrawlerData if…

  • You want to pay per request without a subscription: prepaid packs from $1.00 to $0.30 per 1,000, valid 6 months, against SerpApi list prices of $25.00 to about $1.96 per 1,000.
  • You monitor prices on Google Shopping: one sellers request returns every seller with price, shipping and total price, sorted by total, with no pagination. A product with 30 sellers costs 3 credits ($0.003 on Starter, $0.0009 on Ultimate).
  • You run batches: the Fast and Regular queues deliver by webhook or polling at the same price as Live, with no speed surcharge.
  • You want organic results with real destination links, AI Overview with its sources and People Also Ask, on desktop or mobile, in a response small enough to store every day.
  • You want Google Shopping data from a team that runs its own e-commerce price-monitoring product on the same crawler, every day.
Migration

Moving from SerpApi

The fastest way to switch: keep your SerpApi calls and change the base URL to https://api.crawlerdata.com/search.json, our SerpApi-compatible endpoint (see /serpapi-compatible-api). To use the native API instead, the mapping is below: a JSON body to one endpoint, with a Bearer token instead of api_key.

SerpApiCrawlerData
engine=google"endpoint": "google-search"
engine=google_shopping"endpoint": "google-shopping-search"
engine=google_immersive_product (stores)"endpoint": "google-shopping-product" with product_id from our Shopping search
qquery
glcountry (2-letter, "uk" is accepted as "gb")
hllanguage (2-letter)
devicedevice ("desktop" or "mobile", on Google Search)
startpage (1 to 10)
async=true + Searches Archive API"queue": "fast" or "regular", then GET /v1/jobs/{id} or a postbackUrl webhook
Before: SerpApi
curl "https://serpapi.com/search?engine=google&q=best+crm+software&gl=us&hl=en&api_key=YOUR_SERPAPI_KEY"
After: CrawlerData
curl -X POST https://api.crawlerdata.com/v1/jobs \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"endpoint":"google-search","params":{"query":"best crm software","country":"us","device":"desktop"},"queue":"live"}'

Full request and response schemas are in the OpenAPI spec, with runnable code in the examples repo. AI clients can connect to the MCP server at https://api.crawlerdata.com/mcp with the same API key.

FAQ

Questions

Is CrawlerData cheaper than SerpApi?

At list prices, per request, yes on every tier we compared: our packs run from $1.00 to $0.30 per 1,000 requests, SerpApi's plans from $25.00 per 1,000 (Starter) to about $1.96 (Cloud 54M). Prices as of October 2026.

Does CrawlerData have a subscription like SerpApi?

No. You buy a credit pack when you need one, and credits are valid for 6 months. SerpApi is a monthly subscription.

Can I get every Google Shopping seller in one request?

On CrawlerData, yes: the sellers endpoint returns every seller in one request, billed 1 credit per 10 sellers returned. SerpApi's Immersive Product engine returns 3 to 5 stores by default, up to 13 with more_stores, and further pages with next_page_token.

Do both have an MCP server for AI agents?

Yes. SerpApi hosts one at mcp.serpapi.com. Ours is at https://api.crawlerdata.com/mcp, with 8 tools covering every endpoint, and uses the same API key as the REST API.

Do they charge for failed searches?

Neither does. SerpApi does not count cached, errored or failed searches, and a failed CrawlerData job costs 0 credits.
