Serper has the lowest list price of the three for live Google searches: prepaid packs from $1.00 to $0.30 per 1,000, valid 6 months. SerpApi costs far more per search but has about 40 Google engines, location and device control and Legal Shield. DataForSEO is the cheapest at lower volumes if you can wait for queued results ($0.60 per 1,000 SERPs), and its balance never expires, but depth and live delivery cost extra.
All prices below are list prices as of October 2026, linked to each vendor’s page.
The short version
- Choose Serper if you want live Google results with prepaid packs and no subscription, published per-pack rate limits (50 to 300 queries per second) and a generous 2,500-query free trial.
- Choose SerpApi if you need breadth (about 40 Google engines),
locationanduuletargeting, device options, or Legal Shield on Production plans and up. - Choose DataForSEO if your jobs can wait minutes, you want a low per-SERP price on the Standard queue and a balance that never expires, and you also want keyword and SEO data. Mind the depth and queue multipliers.

Pricing models compared
Serper: packs valid 6 months
Serper sells four prepaid packs (serper.dev):
| Pack | Price | Credits | $/1,000 | Rate limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $50 | 50k | $1.00 | 50 qps |
| Standard | $375 | 500k | $0.75 | 100 qps |
| Scale | $1,250 | 2.5M | $0.50 | 200 qps |
| Ultimate | $3,750 | 12.5M | $0.30 | 300 qps |
Credits last 6 months. Whether num above 10 costs more credits isn’t stated on the page we read.
SerpApi: monthly plans and speed multipliers
SerpApi’s plans run from Starter ($25 for 1,000 searches) through Production ($150 for 15,000), Searcher ($725 for 100,000) and Cloud 1M ($3,750 for 1,000,000) up to Cloud 54M ($106,050 for 54 million) (pricing). Each plan has an hourly throughput cap. Searches refill at renewal. Ludicrous Speed doubles the price and Ludicrous Speed Max quadruples it.
DataForSEO: three queues, billed per 10 results
DataForSEO prices a SERP of 10 results: $0.0006 on Standard (about 5 minutes on average, 45-minute target), $0.0012 on Priority (up to 1 minute) and $0.002 on Live (up to 6 seconds) (pricing). Depth is billed per 10 results. Search operators such as site: cost 5×, and options like calculate_rectangles add a base price each. The minimum payment is $50 (help center).
Cost at 10k, 100k, 1M and 10M searches a month
Assumptions: list prices, page 1, 10 results per search, no add-ons, Best Effort speed on SerpApi. For Serper, we assume you buy the pack with the lowest per-1,000 price that you can use up within its 6-month validity, and spread its cost over the months it lasts. For SerpApi, the smallest plan that covers the volume.
| Monthly volume | Serper | SerpApi | DataForSEO Standard | DataForSEO Priority | DataForSEO Live |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10,000 | $10 | $150 (Production) | $6 | $12 | $20 |
| 100,000 | $75 | $725 (Searcher) | $60 | $120 | $200 |
| 1,000,000 | $500 | $3,750 (Cloud 1M) | $600 | $1,200 | $2,000 |
| 10,000,000 | $3,000 | $21,125 (Cloud 10M) | $6,000 | $12,000 | $20,000 |
How the Serper column works:
- 10k/month: one $50 Starter pack (50k credits) lasts 5 months: $50 ÷ 5 = $10 a month.
- 100k/month: one $375 Standard pack (500k) lasts 5 months: $375 ÷ 5 = $75.
- 1M/month: one $1,250 Scale pack (2.5M) lasts 2.5 months: $1,250 ÷ 2.5 = $500. An Ultimate pack would take 12.5 months to use, longer than its 6-month validity.
- 10M/month: one $3,750 Ultimate pack (12.5M) lasts 1.25 months: $3,750 ÷ 1.25 = $3,000.
DataForSEO’s $50 minimum deposit applies at the smallest volume, but the balance doesn’t expire.
When you need 100 results per query
| 10,000 queries × 100 results | Cost |
|---|---|
| SerpApi | 10,000 searches (100 results = 1 search) |
| DataForSEO Standard | 10 SERPs × $0.0006 × 10,000 = $60 |
| DataForSEO Live | 10 SERPs × $0.002 × 10,000 = $200 |
| Serper | Not stated on its page |
Speed and delivery
We haven’t benchmarked these three, so these are each vendor’s published claims:
- Serper: “1-2 seconds”.
- SerpApi: “Each API request runs immediately”, with paid Ludicrous Speed modes.
- DataForSEO: Live up to 6 seconds, Priority up to 1 minute, Standard about 5 minutes on average with a 45-minute target. Standard and Priority are task-based: you POST tasks and fetch results later.
Endpoints and locations
- Serper lists Search, Images, News, Maps, Places, Videos, Shopping, Scholar, Patents and Autocomplete, with integrations for LangChain, CrewAI and Haystack. Its FAQ mentions country and language targeting.
- SerpApi lists about 40 Google engines, including AI Mode, Flights, Hotels, Jobs, Lens, Maps, Scholar and Trends (homepage).
- DataForSEO lists 13 Google SERP endpoints, including Organic, AI Mode, Maps, News, Images, Jobs and Ads, plus Bing, YouTube, Yahoo, Baidu, Naver and Seznam, with “up to 700 results per keyword” (SERP API).
Docs and developer experience
- SerpApi has a playground and a sample JSON response for each engine, which makes it quick to check whether a field you need is returned before you write code.
- DataForSEO has extensive docs, a playground, and integrations for Postman, n8n, Make and Zapier. Its free Sandbox returns sample data, so you can build against the task flow without spending your balance.
- Serper markets integrations with LangChain, CrewAI and Haystack. We didn’t find a public docs site, and its playground didn’t render when we checked, so plan to test the response shape with your free queries.
Three example buyers
A rank tracker checking 20,000 keywords once a day, top 100 results. That’s about 600,000 queries a month at 100 results each. On DataForSEO Standard: 600,000 × 10 SERPs × $0.0006 = $3,600 a month, and results arrive within the queue time. On SerpApi, 600,000 searches need a plan above Infrastructure (500,000), so Cloud 1M at $3,750. On Serper, the cost depends on how num=100 is billed, which isn’t stated on its page; check with them before you budget.
An AI agent making live searches, 50,000 a month, 10 results each. Latency matters and volume is modest. Serper costs $50 for a Starter pack that lasts a month at this volume. DataForSEO Live: 50,000 × $0.002 = $100. SerpApi’s smallest plan that covers 50,000 searches is Searcher (100,000) at $725.
A research team that needs Google Flights, Scholar and Trends in one API. Breadth decides it: SerpApi lists all three. DataForSEO doesn’t list Flights or Scholar among its Google SERP endpoints, and Serper lists Scholar but not Flights or Trends.
Billing fine print
- Failed requests: none of the three charge for them, per their own pages.
- Expiry: Serper 6 months; SerpApi refills monthly, and leftover searches become Extra Credits only on a downgrade; DataForSEO never expires.
- Refunds: Serper refunds within 7 days if less than 20% of credits are used (terms); SerpApi within 7 days if no more than 20% of searches are used. We didn’t find a general DataForSEO refund policy to cite.
What about Google Shopping?
- SerpApi: Google Shopping search, then Immersive Product, which returns 3 to 5 stores by default and up to 13 with
more_stores=1, plus specs and reviews (docs). - DataForSEO: Merchant API with Products, Product Info, Sellers and Reviews, Standard (queued) only, from $0.001 per unit (docs).
- Serper: a Shopping search endpoint; we found no product or sellers endpoint, and its Shopping credit cost isn’t stated.

Where CrawlerData fits
Our pack prices, credit amounts and 6-month validity are identical to Serper’s: $50 for 50k credits down to $3,750 for 12.5M (pricing). Every cost in the Serper column above applies to us too. We’re not cheaper. The differences are in what’s covered:
- Google Shopping: a Sellers endpoint that returns every seller for a product in one request, sorted by total price, with no pagination or follow-up calls. It costs 1 credit per 10 sellers returned, rounded up, minimum 1 (a product with 22 sellers is 3 credits). The Product endpoint with specs is 1 credit per request.
- Real destination links on organic results in the Google Search API, instead of Google redirect URLs.
- A Local endpoint and a desktop or mobile switch on Search.
- Live, Fast and Regular queues at the same price.
Where we’re weaker than all three:
- Newer product, with 8 Google endpoints against Serper’s 10, DataForSEO’s 13 and SerpApi’s about 40.
- 31 countries at country level, with no city or
uuletargeting, unlike SerpApi and DataForSEO. - Smaller trial: 50 credits, valid 30 days, with a verified work email.
- Credits expire after 6 months, while DataForSEO’s balance never does.
- No published rate limit, while Serper and SerpApi publish theirs.
- Shopping product and sellers requests can take tens of seconds.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Serper cheaper than SerpApi?
- At list prices, yes, at every volume we checked. Serper's packs work out to $1.00 down to $0.30 per 1,000 searches. SerpApi's plans run from $25.00 per 1,000 on Starter to about $1.96 per 1,000 on its largest listed plan. SerpApi offers more engines, location options and Legal Shield in return. Prices as of October 2026.
- Is DataForSEO cheaper than Serper?
- Only on the Standard queue at lower volumes. DataForSEO Standard is $0.60 per 1,000 SERPs, below Serper's $1.00 and $0.75 packs but above its $0.50 and $0.30 packs. Standard results take about 5 minutes on average, depth beyond 10 results is billed per 10, and DataForSEO's Priority ($1.20) and Live ($2.00) modes cost more than any Serper pack.
- Which is fastest: Serper, SerpApi or DataForSEO?
- We only have published claims, not our own benchmark. Serper says 1-2 seconds. DataForSEO says up to 6 seconds for Live, up to 1 minute for Priority and a 45-minute target for Standard. SerpApi says each request runs immediately and sells faster Ludicrous Speed modes at 2x and 4x the price.
- Do Serper, SerpApi or DataForSEO credits expire?
- Serper credits are valid for 6 months. SerpApi searches refill monthly, with no rollover mentioned on its pricing page. DataForSEO says the balance has no expiry date.
- Do they charge for failed requests?
- None of the three do, according to their own pages. SerpApi doesn't count cached, errored or failed searches, Serper deducts credits only for successful responses, and DataForSEO charges only when you get a result.
- Can I get Google Shopping sellers from Serper?
- We didn't find one. Serper lists a Shopping endpoint, but no product, sellers or offers endpoint. SerpApi returns sellers through its Immersive Product engine, DataForSEO through its queued Merchant API Sellers task, and CrawlerData returns every seller in one request on its Sellers endpoint, at 1 credit per 10 sellers returned (rounded up, minimum 1).
